The art A Sunday on La Grande Jatte was a painting by Georges Seurat. The painting seems to have been taken when people were in a picnic in a beach. This art when observed seems to be large in size. The size of the art work is related with the area of coverage. This art work has covered a large area and this is supported the number of people painted in the artwork, the population of the trees and the size of the water body. The above is a proof that the painting is big in size. Close observation of the painting shows a population of a grate number of people as counting the exact number is not that easy. The area can be described as cool. This is due to the high population of trees that are tall and are seen to have fresh leaves.
The gender difference in the painting is very easy to identify. For men, they are identified by the short hair for those without a hat and those with the hat have a hat with no decoration on then. This is to mean their hats are plane. The women in the painting can be identified by the shape of their body with is large at the lower part, the women have a long hair as compared to those of the men and their hat however of the same color as that of men, has a decoration on them. The common decoration observed in the painting is a flower with the shape of a rose flower that is patched to the side of the hat.
The observation made on the painting shows that the weather condition experienced in that region is sunny. This is because of the clear sky that can be clearly seen at the far end of the top left edge of the painting. The other evidence to support the weather condition is the type of dressing observed in the painting. Most of the people are putting on a hat. The use of such hats is to protect their heads from the heat of the sun apart from being part of their dressing. The third observable evidence that supports the weather condition is the use of umbrellas. Most people in the painting are providing shade for themselves by sheltering under the umbrellas. This is an indication of hot sun being experienced in the region. The last observable evidence that supports that the region is experiencing a sunny season is the behavior of the people in the painting. Most of the people in the painting are settled under trees. This only happens when they are seeking for the hot sun
The painting shows that people are actively involved in different activities despite the hot sun that has forced some of them to seek refuge under the trees. The pets or animals observed in the painting are a dog and a monkey. The monkey is held in a chain with a woman dressed in a black top holding a black umbrella. The children are seen playing around and the painting differentiates them from the elderly people in terms of height difference. Some people are involved in fishing through various methods. Some people are involved in the hook system method of fishing while others are involved in the net system fishing method. In the painting, most of the people standing by the lake shore are involved in fishing. The woman wearing a red top dress and a brown hat standing by the lake shore is holding a fishing string and that is an evidence of hock system of fishing. On the river, which is differentiated from the dry land interns of color is the some boats. The presence of the boat is an evidence of a fishing activity in the region. These boats are an indication of fishing method by use of nets.
The show were people are having various activity is seen to be neighboring a town. This is evidenced by the white structure seen on the other end of the lake. The region seems to be a very important place to the society. This is evidenced by the cleanliness of the environment, the good management of the lake edges.
For the completion of the art work, various colors were used to convey a message to as or to improve the beauty of the art work. The use of dots in the painting made the painting to have a luminous and solid form when observed from a distant. Among the colors used are green, blue, brown, black, orange, red and white. The artist hade a reason for using these colors at different points in the art work to communicate a message.
The white color was used in the clouds, the lake edges, in dressing and in the building. The use of the white color in the sky is to communicate the weather condition of the region. The white color in the sky symbolized the clouds. A white cloud in the sky is a symbol of no rain expected in the region for that time and when the color changes to another, then that means a different thing all together. The white color is also used in the lake edges. This is a symbol of the reinforcement of the lake edges for proper management of the region or to prevent any damages to the lake edges. This white color shows that the lake edge is cemented. The white color is also used in the clothing of some people and not forgetting its use in the building. In the building the artist tried to communicate that the structure on the other side of the lake are permanent building hence indicating it is a town.
The blue color is also used in the painting. This is color is used to symbolize a lake. Majorly the blue color symbolizes clean water. The blue color is also used in the painting to show the location of the sky. This is an indication that the sky is clear and the only weather condition experience when the sky is blue is sunny. The blue color used in the sky is also an indication of the distance of something in the space. Here it means the unreachable part of the sky. The blue color is also used in some of the clothing.
In the painting also is the use of the green color. The green color is used in two categories. There is the use of the light green and the dark green color. Green color is majorly used to symbolize vegetation. Vegetation is to mean plants, in the painting the observable plants are the trees and grass. In the grass there are places where the light green color is used and spots where the dark green color is used. The dark green grass is to show that the grass is under a shade while the light green is an indication that the grass is exposed to the light or the sun. This is also evidenced as most of the people standing on the light green grass are having an umbrella ads opposed to those seated on the dark green grass. The green color is also used in the trees. Careful observation of the trees is two different version of the green color. The light green observed on the trees is to show that those parts are exposed to the sunlight while the dark green part of the tree is to show that those parts do not get the light from the sun as per that time.
The black color has been used in a dog and in clothing. The red color has also been used in the clothing majorly in the women clothes. The orange color has been used in both men and women clothing. Apart from the use of the colors in different places in the painting, the diversity of the colors in the painting has added beauty to the painting.
