A Worn Path Argumentative Essay Examples

The story a Worn Path is about an old woman who goes on a difficult journey with the aim of obtaining medicine for her grandchild. She warns away animals as well as articulating the kind and level of pain she has in her bones that are weary. She does this through short uttering’s of spoken monologue. This paper would look at this story basing its argument on the thesis of the devotion and underlying love which pushes an individual towards the attainment of their goals and objectives .
Phoenix; the old woman in the story A Worn Path has indeed faced many losses in her life since she states that her grandson and herself are the only ones left in their family. In addition to this, she has also lost her bodily strength due to oldness . These are physical losses and on top of this she feels that she has lost love as the only person to love her is her grandson whilst the other family members have passed on.
On her journey into town, she is faced with difficulties such as wild animals which could have killed her easily as she had no strength to run away. She hears quivering in the thickets and she somehow demands owls, foxes, coons, and other wild animals to keep off from her. She also faces difficulties of crossing fences and barbed wires .
Even though Phoenix is faced with difficult challenges on her way to town putting into consideration her age, she steels herself on to ensure that she reaches there so as to obtain the medicine. This virtue can be related to the one expressed in the ancient story of Phoenix rising from ashes.
In conclusion, love is the virtue that is strong enough to stir individuals to achieve the unexpected goals in life and this is evidenced by what Phoenix did i.e. going through difficulty to attain what you want just because of love.
