Dear Mr Griper:
Thank you for your letter enclosing the ad. copy, offering the same model router that you purchased from us – a top of the range router which is an excellent choice for reliability.
I note that the ad. by our competitor does indeed offer it at $26.50 less than the price you paid in our store on 4th December last, and that you are claiming a refund of that $26.50 in accordance with our price guarantee policy, which applies to the same product found on sale elsewhere within one month of the original purchase from us.
However, I also note that the ad. you provided shows that the competitor’s lower price was valid only during a one-week sale beginning on 8th January this year – a full five weeks after your original router purchase from this store. We therefore have to draw your attention to the one month limit in our price guarantee, which means that a price prevailing no sooner than five weeks later falls outside the terms of our guarantee conditions.
Although I am sorry to have you inform you that your claim must consequently be denied, I am also pleased that you have not reported any problems with the product itself, which reinforces my statement that it is indeed a top of the range router.
I trust that this experience will not deter you from shopping with us in the future. As a token of our regard for you as a loyal customer, please find enclosed a 40 percent discount voucher for use against your next purchase with us. We always stock only quality products and would be happy to assist you with your electronics requirements on other occasions.
Please feel free to contact the undersigned if we can help you further.
Sincerely,
Paul Sweetwater, Store Manager
