It would be a dream come true for people who usually get some middle-of-the-night emergency and need to run to the store to purchase something, to have their orders delivered at home irrespective of where they live, within a time span of thirty minutes. This idea is not unique on its own except for when the delivery is made via a drone and not by the regular methods of home delivery. Delivering packages to people through drones is an idea proposed by Amazon and it is planning to launch it very soon. Many people would ask the company why they would launch an idea such as this. The reason stands for the love of aviation by Amazon and their desire to make the lives of their customers easier and more convenient than ever. The maker of these drones, Prime Air, has already started experimenting on drones that can carry 55 pounds of goods, and they are working on how to improve the weight capacity (Amazon, 2015). Their idea stands that is drones can be used for daily work such as crop monitoring and the like, and then why not for helping people getting their goods delivered at home. Not only in the present era are they convenient but are necessities as well. (Kratchowill, 2015)
However, the issues with drones are the hurdles that they face in their practicality and their future use. It is a relatively newer technology, and there will be many people who will not be ready to face and use it. Some might not trust drones as much as they trust people in delivering their goods to their homes. The other issue is the risk that the drone might hit a wall while it’s on its way and unlike a car, it won’t have a driver to hit the brakes in time. However, the inventors are working towards making this technology act like a horse that stops when it approaches a barrier rather than a car. Whatever the risks involved, they will be worked upon because drones are definitely the future of home deliveries and Amazon will be the precursor of this technology and idea. ( Kratchowill, 2015)
