Cell phones are a device created for making communication easier between people and facilitating their lives in many ways. Today, however, they also serve to fulfill the purpose of entertainment in the form of music, gaming, pictures, movies and many other features that are present in smartphones and various cell phones. However, as the device is considered a necessity in the present day, it is at the same time, a device that can cause much harm if it is used in excess.
Cell phones are dangerous in the sense of being used at the wrong time or if used in excess without caution. The danger associated with their use is alike for adults and children all the same. The biggest danger that is lurks with the use of cell phones irrespective of whether they are used much or not, is the habit that many people have of using it while driving a car or any other vehicle. Using cell phones while driving is a major cause of many car accidents, which have sometimes proven fatal as well. Driving is a task that asks for a person’s complete concentration and attention, which if diverted can have deleterious effects. It is even inappropriate to use a Bluetooth device or putting the phone on speaker because any news that a person gets on the phone can cause emotional disturbance and result in an error of judgment while driving. This can affect young and aged alike.
Moreover, cell phones are dangerous because of the addictive behavior they cause amongst people. The target is mostly children and adolescents, who wish to buy the latest and most expensive cell phone only because they want to avail the latest applications, games and features that the phone can provide them with. This becomes a problem because very soon they develop an addiction over these and then they are found a neglecting school or college work, over indulging in cell phones and texting or social networking excessively.
Cell phones are also dangerous because they are constantly emitting radio waves and microwave radiation, which is how they function basically. These waves are penetrable into the human brain and mostly do so via the ear. They can also penetrate the skin to a few centimeters. The harms they can cause are exposure to the waves which over a long period of time can result in the development of cancers and tumors and many other diseases of the brain. These radiations can also affect the memory of a person. Some sensitive people can suffer from migraines and headaches which can proliferate with the passage of time. They are also more likely to affect children more because they have actively multiplying cells in their bodies. For adults, keeping the phones in the pockets near the heart or in their jeans can be very harmful as well as the phone’s emitted rays, as well as the vibration or ringing, can affect the organs that lie close to it and can result in their malfunctioning.
It is true of all appliances that function in the present day that they release some or the other form of radiation which can harm the human body by its excess usage. However more than any other appliance in the world, the cell phone is one device that is used by almost every person in the world, and it is used almost like an addiction by some people. The added features to them apart from just calling a person, has made everyone become inclined to owning the best cell phone that offers the best features from all the others, even if it is costly for them. People will be willing to ruin their budgets to purchase the most expensive phone in the market. However, even after knowing the dangers of cell phones, they never quit using them. Addiction to phones, the fatal accidents, and the long term health risks are clear to all, but no one quits using them. Realizing their potential danger, a person should come down to using them moderately and wisely, rather than misusing them and facing their danger.
