Argumentative Essay On Shark Fining

Shark Fining has been “culturally” practiced by many nations worldwide. In particular Chinese fishermen used this fins for precious delicacies such as soups. But the practice has not contributed to do the conservation of Sharks lately and the justification of it through culture. However, this is practice by mostly poor fishermen under big entrepreneurs to make a living and to produce the high demand of Shark Fin Soup (Sharkwater). More importantly they are accustomed to this type of fishing because it is part of their living. But to negate these wrong concepts, I would give some points on what is the difference between slaughter and responsible fishing. Moreover some evidences have been found that shark fining is not culturally motivated. Thus this paper aims to refute any claims that shark fining is a cultural practice.
There are alleged organized crimes referring to shark fining. This is primarily because of the large market value the shark fins have. Many businessmen would definitely grab the opportunity for lucrative profits such as this. Consequently, they are trying to argue that shark fining is culturally practice but in fact not all of the Chinese fishermen or other common fishermen are involved in shark fining. Shark fining usually utilizes more equipment other than that of common fishing methods. Thus, making it only possible for large conglomerates and other big entrepreneurs that would want to earn more money to have access on the said fining practice. Basing on the video, many countries have banned shark fining and were not afraid of any “culturally-driven” issues about the practice. It is definitely evident that only opportunistic people would want to do this to those poor animals to gain more money that the normal. Precisely, the price of a fin soup is more than a hundred bucks who would not want to grab this regardless of culture. Nevertheless, it is still a bad practice to defend an obvious wrong thing using your own culture.
