As An 18 Year Old, Male High School Senior, Are You Eager Or Fearful Of Going To War? Essay Samples

Experience of war is traumatizing. America has participated in several wars in order to pursue various intentions. I have always wondered about the essence of going for war (O'Reilly & Dugard, 2011). As a patriotic citizen, it is right to fight for one’s country. During the wars, many people were recruited into the American army. Some of the wars involved engaging in international affairs that do not directly affect the whole world but aim at enabling stability in the whole world. Participating in war is a form of dedication to the country as well as the society of an individual (Roth, 2004). Personally, I had relatives who lost their lives by participating in different wars like the Second World War. It is important to note that the wars that America participated in had specific objectives to the country as well as the whole world.
As a patriotic citizen, I could have had no problem joining the others in the war because they were for the benefit of my country. National security is an important matter and everybody should take the initiative of supporting it (Logue & Blanck, 2010). Though war causes loss of lives and resources, it has long term benefits to the society. Nevertheless, it is important to participate in war when necessary and at the right time. Generally, a high school student is a minor and should not be forced to participate in war. Only people of the right age should be picked to participate in wars (Beevor, 2012). Therefore, as an 18-year senior high school student, I could not have assented to join others in the war until I attain the right status. I am fearful of joining the wars because I lack the required confidence.
