As expected, most Asian American enterprises come about as a form of cultural recognition and comfort. It is much easier for anyone to trade with an individual they can identify as his or her own. Even the biggest multi-cultural companies mostly start of as a form of cultural identification. Most come into being as a way of combating the cultural barrier that some communities witness in the USA. For most Asian Americans, entrepreneurship is an opportunity for them to escape the barriers that come with economic system for those who may be from other cultural affiliations. Many businesses have come up and risen to admirable ranks because of this situation. One such business is Akraya INC that was founded in 2001. The company is an Asian American inspired enterprise that has its headquarters in California. It was founded by Amar Panchal and has risen to offer products to more than ten countries, the USA being its top market. Akraya INC deals with the managing of services in both IT and engineering. In addition, it deals with the contingent staffing and permanent placement. It also offers management services to other corporates. Even though Akraya has grown to accommodate clients from all occupations, it originally targeted Asians. The ideology was to help Asians who were unable to get such services elsewhere (Danico, Mary, and Franklin, 133-136).
Another example of an Asian American business is the company Singh Group INC. The entity has been in existence for over ten years and has been a hub for Asian clients. Singh group deals with contacting work and land care. It serves all places including commercial, residential and government projects. It prides itself in the notable fact of giving value for low costs. Ideally, most Asian clients who want facility and land care would opt for the company because of the issue of culture. Most people of the Asian decent find comfort in the fact that a company with people from their culture is presiding over their residential issues. The target market of Singh, however, is not entirely, or even to a high degree Asian. Singh has diversified and offers its services to the international market and people from other cultural affiliations in the USA. When it started, many Asian Americans flocked the company. In the past, they constituted a high number of the company’s clients. However, as time went by, government projects and those from other places substantially increased. Zero Waste solutions that were founded by Shavila Singh in 2002 are also an example of an Asian American company. It highlights the issue of how the Asian community could come together and make a difference. The company is dedicated towards the use and management of resources in terms of education and technology that is sustainable (Nakanishi, Don T, and James, 288-293). It delivers solutions that are green in nature and would help in the sustainment of a waste free lifestyle. The company does not target the Asian market in specific, but it is heavily endorsed and supported by the community. The Asian Americans involved take pride in taking part in the goodness it brings.
The challenge of being different or in the minority can be overwhelming. The situation gets even harder when the cultural barrier is too big to ignore. Business for Asian Americans is one way of their creating an identity that can shelter them from the feeling of being culturally different.
