Boston Massacre Article Review Samples

The picture and the word document tell of a story that would rather be forgotten by many, ‘the Boston massacre’. It is a story of pain and anguish, presented in both art and word. Jus like the picture, the word document tells of a battle between a group of armed soldiers and unarmed youth, both left to fight and win the battle. The soldiers were definitely prepped for the war and were hence armed for the task. The youth were not armed, yet they had to fight considering the battle they had been exposed to. The picture depicts the fearless nature of the two groups, who knew exactly what they wanted and were ready for the outcome, however severe they were. The youth, even though unarmed, were not afraid fought their way through. They definitely knew they would be killed considering the prepared nature of their opponents. However, this is did not make them to simply stand there and wait for their deaths, they fought through their solidarity and used whatever weapon they had to fight the soldiers. They refused to die as cowards and did all they could to defend themselves and others who looked up to them.
The little opportunity they found to run and escape, they utilized it, even though they were not free from the gun shots, that would travel more than their speed. They fought while running away from the merciless soldiers, yet the soldiers almost kept the same spot as they killed them. the youth appeared to be more than the soldiers yet by the reason of them being not armed they were less powerful. They were held up in a narrow street, which made it difficult for most of them to escape. Those who were alive watched helplessly as their fellow acquaintances fell under their feet as the guns shot them. Some fell because of the wounds, while others because of the shock and the failing strength. The movement caused a lot of stampede which hurt and injured many. That could have been a tactic that enabled the soldiers to kill even more of them. The immobile nature of those who were injured made it easy for them to be shot and dead. Their cries and pleading of mercy did not reach the ears of the soldiers who were out on a mission to kill.
The goal of the writer and the artist was to bring to the audience a clear picture of what happened on the ground. Many people only heard about the massacre, yet they did not have the opportunity vividly picture the image and empathize with the situation. Many people have always wondered how possible it was to kill such a big group of people within a short time without catching the attention of the government to offer protection. The fact is that people were caught unawares by the soldiers who were definitely prepared for the fight. The author and he artist manage to bring back the memories of the events that happened many years ago. The picture and the document is not just about reminding the audience of a past they would rather forget but rather caution them against the possibility of a similar event happening. It sad that the event took only a short period of time, yet the pain and the anguish it left on the victims is still felt in the current years. This hence points out to taking precautions before reaching a decision of mercilessly killing people to fulfill a selfish and temporal agenda at the expense of permanent consequences.
