In the past few years it is observed that students are taking programs in the field of commerce and universities are offering variety of different programs related to commerce. It shows that students are interested in this field as there are organisations available, offering jobs right after their bachelor’s degree. Previously a person having a commerce degree considered to be incapable, but today there are numerous positions are available for such person and one can choose his career wisely after sorting between different options. A person should choose such career which best sync with his capabilities and qualification.
The scope of accounting is very broad and almost every field these days seek for a person having an accounting degree. Though a well organised and permanent job is difficult to find but people get it after their working experience or taking further education related to accounts. Many people try to start their work as an accountant and try to stable their position with the same position. Apart from it a person can become a cost estimator, which a very useful position for a business as this person calculates all the costs related to a product or service which a business is trying to offer. Usually they belong to a particular product and department, this is because they sometimes visit the manufacturing plant in order to observe and record the costs involved. According to the bureau of labour statistics employment in this field is expected to grow 26 percent from 2012-2022, it is believed to be much faster average increase than any other profession.
If a person is not much interested in visiting the manufacturing site and enjoy working in an office cabin then he can become a financial manager. This job holds great importance in an organisation and as there are many responsibilities attached to it. It is not just presenting the financial records and keeping them, a financial manager also formulates the strategies, financial goals and plans. In short he keeps an eye on all the financial matters related to a business. They can work in a number of different organisations related to their interest and in some firms this position is considered to be an executive post and they offer high salary and attractive job package. Though the work is more and extensive and a person has to work overtime or long hours if needed. In this position experience and further education is very important and this is because the average employment increase in this is similar to all other occupations.
A person working as a financial manager need to be hardworking and motivated, a complete set of skills and leadership qualities are required to work on this position, and of course experience also matters to take financial decisions and plans according to the firm’s interest. If we look at the certain qualities needed to become a financial manger than we would realise how responsible and important this position is, and obviously there are people working with these qualities. Apart from these two qualities that I already mentioned in the beginning of this paragraph a financial manger must know the ethics of a business and of a working environment, he should be the role model for others working under him. It is believed that the vision of such managers is very clear and they are ready to take any risk in order to achieve their vision, and they can boldly handle different tasks at one time. Their strong communication and interpersonal skills make them more dignified and important, and they allow easy access to their employees and give them advice or to listen their ideas. Many managers do not favour change in the business environment but as financial manager one must welcome change whether in the context of technology or working environment.
Companies seek such candidates which at least hold five qualities discussed above and work for the benefit of the organisation through proper understanding and own abilities.
