What culture does WDC want to create?

Walt Disney Company (WDC) wants to create a collaborative kind of culture. The culture allows employees of WDC to exercise their creativity skills at the workplace. Cast members are regarded as part of the WDC family and are encouraged to embrace the Company’s purpose in order to bring entertainment to all age groups. The collaborative culture helps the Company to fulfill its strategy of exceeding customer expectations. There are policies and procedures that the employees follow strictly so as to deliver quality work. This type of culture helped employees to fully exercise their creative skills enabling the company to effectively execute its objectives. Employees’ performance was boosted and this shaped and coordinated their behavior.

Employee selection: Based on the diagram above, the human resource management has the duty of developing a selection program that ensures competent personnel fit the various acting roles in the play. The selection process was based on the employee’s capability to interact with other people including adult and children. For instance, the participants were required to explain a certain behavior such as kicking of the Donald Duck and the action they would have taken.
Training programs- Once the employees were hired they were trained on the values of the company and to be conversant with the company’s strategy. Training programs were conducted in a friendly manner. The employers had no barriers put in their way thus the employees felt free and comfortable.
Career development- Through interactions with other cast members, the employees were able to develop in their respective careers. WDC environment encouraged development of their employees. The WDC and human resource encouraged employees to view themselves as part of the company. This helped them nurture their talents and deliver quality.
Employee hiring- As mentioned earlier, hiring was purely based on competency interpersonal skills and creativity. Participants who showed humor and responded to different films appropriately had a better chance of being hired.
Employee encouragement- Based on the diagram, the human resource management encouraged the employees to have a healthy lifestyle. This helped the casts to be in good health and therefore capable of meeting the expectations of the customers.

Connections between human resource practice at WDC and WDC culture.

One of the functions performed by the human resource management at WDC is selection of employees. There are is a connection between WDC culture and the selection process. The human resource management conducted the selection by giving the interested applicants a chance to express themselves in given characters.
Employee encouragement is another function carried out by the human resource management. The HR encourages employees to use their creativity skills at workplace which is part of the collaborative culture practiced at WDC.
Besides that, training programs were offered to employees by the human resource management. The goal of these trainings was to equip the employee with adequate skills so that they could effectively meet the expectations of the customers. Walt came up with this idea to enhance the creativity of the employees.
The human resource management was also mandated to hire employees who fit various characters. The hiring process was conducted at WDC casting center. This helped the casts to familiarize with the environment and relate with other cast members.
