Introduction

The 19th century, there was a massive movement of many countries into the United States. One of these countries was China. The Chinese migration into the United States started in the 1850s, the Chinese moved to the United States in search of freedom and better job opportunities. This paper is going to focus on the Chines immigration in the 19th century and they fields that they worked in as laborers in the United States.S

Departure from china

Initially, migrating from was forbidden because of some political reasons. However, many people ignored it and kept on migrating from China. The major migration from China was in the 1840s, when the Chinese migrated to the US as laborers. Additionally, the Burlingame treaty that was signed between the US and China, increased the immigration to the United States.

Arrival in the United States

The Chinese immigrant used the ships for transportation. They obtained the money required for their transportation fro their relatives and other money lenders. Moreover, some American employers would sent for the laborers and pay for their voyage. The Chinese started entering the US in the 1968. They experienced a lot of culture shock because US was a strange country for them.

Field of employment for the Chinese immigrants

During the gold rush, many Chines immigrants were taken to California to work in the gold fields. This took place in between 1851 and 1860, when the Chines immigrants got recruited by the Central Pacific Railroad to work in the railway construction. The Chinese immigrants were the constructors who build the first ever transcontinental railroad. The transcontinental railroad linked different railway networks of the United States. Nonetheless, the Chinese laborers also got recruited to work in other occupations such agriculture, the mining industry, trading, fishing, as well as, domestic workers amongst many other occupations.
