Civilization can be used to mean an advanced state of human life in terms of development. In the ancient times, the development of technology and infrastructure did not exist as it is the case today. But through civilization there has been improvement in human welfare over the centuries. Mesopotamia and Egypt are said to be the first nations to be civilized. The civilization was achieved in many ways, for example, Mesopotamia developed in the business filed due to the invention of writing. The other fact that made Mesopotamia and Egypt be the first countries to be civilized is their proximity to the rivers. Rivers contributed to the civilization of the nations because the communities would grow enough food and others would even get time to do other activities such s trade and metal work. The rivers also provided easy transport, fishing and hunting activities. The technological, social, political and religious comparisons of the two nations were as a result of their different environments.
The political state of Egypt was enhanced by its religion where the people believed that Pharaoh their king was God. Their belief in the continuity of political power could be observed by the way they buried their kings, depicting a life after death.Unlike Mesopotamia that had two rivers, Egypt had only one river and, for this reason, the Egyptian’s technology was mainly based on astronomy as they saw the need to understand the weather pattern. Both countries developed writing skills that were helpful in their businesses for record keeping. However, the difference was in the type of writing they adopted. The Mesopotamians adopted a Sumerian cuneiform writing that was based on alphabets while the Egyptians adopted the hieroglyphics writing that was more pictorial. Both countries focused on mathematics and astronomy, but Mesopotamia did better in terms of advancements.
