Give me an example of a time when regulative rules, the traffic signals of verbal communication, were evident. (Please identify characters, conversation, the rule, the violation, etc.)
When Jackie is speaking with her husband over the phone it is verbal communication, when she was messaging with her lover, it was verbal communication. When Jackie showed to Zoie that she needs to give a hug to mother of twins, she understood her gesture and understood that it would calm her down a bit, and that was example of non-verbal communication.

Identify a scene, in the episode, when a person’s dialect helped you to form a positive impression. Why?

When doctor Couper was speaking with an old lady, his voice, manner of speaking made me trust him, made me believe everything will be alright. I think that his patients like him, he gives them hope for a better future and getting better soon. The way he speaks with that old lady shows us that patient can trust his/her doctor and even likes to communicate with doctors, even though, the majority does not like medical works or afraid of them.

Identify a scene, in the episode, when a person’s dialect had you form a negative impression. Why?

I really dislike Eleonora and the way she is communicating with people , especially the kids. The little kid was so happy that she helped her brother and she even did not try to encourage him and tell him something good. And I think that some nice words and smile from her could help the mother of twins to come over it and to become a bit stronger. And when the doctor is not affable, it can make you feel unwanted and hopeless.

How do you think Jackie’s deception is going to affect her relationships?

I believe that the family has to be strong and all members have to tell the truth to each other. I think, it is impossible to hide a lover all the time and one day her husband will know it. I’m afraid that they will divorce because of it and the kids would suffer, because of it.

Identify the character you think has the most cooperative verbal communication style. Why did you choose this character?

I think that Jackie has the most cooperative verbal communication style. She has been working for years in the hospital, she gave an advice to Zoie to give a hug to the mother of twins, because she saw that woman needs it. She cheered up the brother of small patient. It seems that Jackie knows personal approach to all the people.

Describe one gender difference you noticed when it came to verbal communication.

When Jackie and her husband were at school and teacher, psychologist and nurse were telling them they see bad symptoms in their daughter, Jackie became anxious, she started to speak with louder voice and reject all their words, she started to blame them for being not professional. And her husband kept calm, even though he was disturbed s much as Jackie, but he did not let his feeling to burst out. He was trying to do everything without any scandals and fights.

Tell me how you see Zoey demonstrating the communication accommodation theory.

When Zoie was speaking with Jackie, she lowered her voice, and told her she is not satisfied at all that everybody keeps her away from “interesting cases”, she is trying to speak with tea me tone as Jaclie.When Zoie speaking with Mo-Mo about twins, she doing it more active, more similar to him.
