Commercial Cinema Or A Political Cinema? Creative Writings Examples
The main difference between commercial and political advertising is advertised product (in political advertising such product is a person or a certain social philosophy, not a product or service). I can assume that political advertising methods used commercial advertisement.
I want to show you this on the example of Hollywood and Soviet model.
When comparing Hollywood and Soviet cinema, it seems that the latter one had more support from filmmakers and critics. Only in 1933 there were fifty five articles about Russian films published in The Development of Chinese Cinema. However, the inhabitants of China preferred Hollywood films, as they considered them to be of a higher quality than a Soviet one. The Chinese critics made spectators to watch their domestic films but the people continued to enjoy Hollywood cinema. (1, 148)
Chinese filmmakers were largely influenced by Hollywood as well as the Soviet mode of practice. For example, Chaplin films made influenced by the film Way Down East by Cheng Bugao. (1,148)
The Chinese cinematographists wanted to adopt Euro-American civilization in order to destroy all rotten traditional ethnics. The main problem was that a lot of filmmakers wanted to keep silence during that time due to some political regime.
It may be concluded here that the Soviet and Hollywood models had influenced the Chinese filmmaking anyway. But, the Soviet model of filmmaking had a political influence when the Hollywood one- rather cultural. Hollywood`s films were more expensive for people, but more popular at the same time. It is explained by the fact, that the Soviet model wanted to implement its ideology when Hollywood is more than entertained and fun. And how do you think which one of these is chosen by people? Definitely, the last one.
