Question 1

Terrorist activities have increased recently in most of the countries. However, the terrorists have portrayed their might and power to the citizenry through the frequent attacks to the people despite the warnings from the governments. However, it is essential to note that the terrorist attacks must emanate from something, and in most cases, terrorists succeed in the attacks due to the high corruption levels in the state offices. Nonetheless, terrorism has become a complex issue to analyze and define because it could draw meanings from a range of dimensions. Some of the dimensions used include; political, social and economic. Therefore, it becomes hard to combine the three aspects because psychologists differ in terms of the meanings. As a result, they outline the earnings based on the backgrounds thereby bringing the disparity.
Therefore, defining terrorism on a social basis differs from the definition on economic or political basis. It is because; the factors that contribute politically are also different from the contributing social factors. For instance, the religion could bring about terrorism due to the different beliefs thereby its definition. On the other hand, proving the democratic rights of the citizenry could result in terrorism due much freedom granted to the people.
Consequently, terrorism has significance in conflict resolution because it harmonizes all the aspects of life. As a result, people come together to combine the efforts to fight a common enemy, which is the terrorist. For this reason, it requires democracy in fighting the enemy and the government should also consider the terrorist attacks as criminal offenses that the law enforcers should prosecute. In addition, it enhances solidarity among the people as they fight a common enemy thereby enhancing a peaceful coexistence among them. On the other hand, terrorism makes people share the adequate information that could lead to the arrest of the criminals or deterrence of criminal activities. However, the terrorism fight leads to a reduction in the proliferation in a country thereby leaving fewer people prone to the deadly attacks using the weapons.

Question 2

In his article, Phillip G. refers to the government structures and the attacks becoming sporadic thereby unaware of when and where they occur. However, most of the terrorists cut across all borders, their well-networked tactics and their non-state have enabled them remain ahead of the governments because the law enforcers have different perceptions concerning the terrorists. Nonetheless, terrorism has challenged the states’ power in various ways, for instance, the terrorists take advantage of the technology advancements to get all the information required to conduct the criminal activities. However, most of the government officials and activities remain uncivilized in terms of the politics civilization, good governance and social developments in the societies.
Consequently, the increased levels of poverty lead to many people joining the terrorist groups to keep themselves busy and earn a living at the same time. Additionally, the state leaders should keep away from the malpractices, which include taking bribes from the terrorists to avoid giving room for the terrorist attacks. It is because, when a leader receives a bribe from terrorists, the actions act like a rubber stamp to the criminal activities. As a result, the terrorists end up overpowering the law enforcers.
On the other hand, many countries experience security personnel deficit thereby overburdening the ones in the office. As a result, the terrorists overpower the few security officers thereby making it easy to conduct the terrorist attacks.
