There are several rationales that are used in content- based language instruction. The two most important techniques are teaching the content in a culturally responsive manner and the use of material with good content directed at learners. Teaching in a culturally responsive manner ensures that the teacher is able to develop education content that the learners can identify themselves with (Egbert, 2005). This helps the student understand the concept they are being introduced to much better. The teachers can access online materials which can help them understand their students’ culture better. The use of academic content which is favorable to the students is recommended. The teacher might make the use of graphics, outlining text and the use of live demonstrations. Another important skill and technique is the ability to make sure that objectives meet both language and content.
There several technology standards that teachers are supposed to acquit themselves with when creating content based lessons. The first one is being familiar with the technology (Stanley, 2013). Teachers are supposed to understand the aspect of technology before making use of them. They should be at a place whereby they can make use of the technology before they can ask the students to make use of it. The teachers should also start small when using technology so that they can be able to identify and rectify problems before going big (TESOL, 2015). They should not forget focusing on content that is being delivered.
Language: the list of language and vocabulary used should be relevant to the music and instruments used to develop the sound. The information should be from authentic sources and the pronunciation should be comprehensible.
