Human nature has always aimed at taking that big leap ahead with the genius of the mind. Computers can be termed as the perfect example of the genius of the boundless mind of the human race. Computer is surely one of the greatest inventions in the history of the human kind. Physical documentation in hardcopies, storing data, making complex calculations- all of such activities were time-consuming and taxing for the people.
Post World War II, the very first computer device was set up by Charles Babbage. In 1936, Konrad Zuse made the Z1 Computer that was the first freely programmable computer device. From that time onwards, the evolution of computers has sped up with new inventions and advanced technology. After the invention of transistor, John Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly invented the UNIVAC computer in 1951. Soon after in 1953, IBM 701 EDPM Computer was invented. With gradual evolution, in the year 1981, IBM started making personal computers. Apple Mackintosh Computers and Microsoft Windows took the world by storm after all this.
The computer device has simplified the complexities of work by enormous extent. The device has developed in regard to the hardware as well as software. While previous year’s computers used to take up a lot of space, modern desktops take lesser space having hardware parts like monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc.
The CPU or Central Processing Unit is the brain of the computer. It works on ROM (Read Only Memory) and RAM (Random Access Memory). There is a motherboard with integrated circuit that drives the work on the device. The graphics card aids the visual output of the device. The monitor shows the visual data and works as the screen. The keyboard and mouse are used to function on the device, to give commands, and select actions. Speakers, microphone and webcam can be attached to the device that would enable sound output-input and camera functions enabling video chats.
Laptops come to integrate the computer device in a more compact form. The body of a laptop includes the screen, keypad, and touchpad for functions of the mouse. The weight is much lesser in comparison to desktops, and the device can be carried around by any person. This comes as very handy in the present day world.
Computers play a key role in neutralizing the impediments of geographical distances and barriers. In the age of communication and technology, it is really important to be able to communicate with people far away so that familial ties, economic relationships, defense mechanisms, and so on are facilitated. The computer device is the device that is used all over the globe for purposes of this kind. It virtually links the entire world to be presented on the little device via internet. It is very interesting how a machine helps in safeguarding human relationships and communication. Man being a social animal needs this boon working in his favor.
The device facilitates education, recreation, work, and so on. It has become an omniscient part in the lives of the gazillion people living all over the world. Thus, it can be very well opined that computer is the invention of the era that has come to revolutionize the way people live, work and play. Life without computers is unimaginable in the present time. With the experiments on artificial intelligence and more advanced software and hardware, people can only envisage with all their heart what lies in store for the entire human kind. Computers have thus become the signifier of the modern world where humans live in.
