Status groups
This is how society is organized in the form of strata system based on power, economic status and social status of an individual, race, ethnic or tribal affiliation. Canada are divided into social status based on race, income, gender, wealth, power and academics. It has a high degree of social mobility, which enable individual to rise one in social class from one generation to another. They are divided in upper, middle, working and lower class., Most of the population are scholars, tradesmen and successful entrepreneurs'.They gap between rich and poor is minimal hence high social mobility. The population comprises of Canadian, Britons and minority ethnic groups.
In Saudi Arabia population, they have the same degree of cultural similarities. These comprise of nomadic and semi-nomadic which are affiliated to tribal backgrounds such as Shia, Yemeni, India and Asri, Najdi and Hijaz. Main Tribal status is qabila, which believe they are superior, and their main occupation was metallurgy and tanning of hides. Khadira is astute business people who are merchants and possess academic prowess. Awaali is a group of families known for rich links of being merchants associated with wealth and other privileges. Finally, abd and shia are considered to be marginalised with low social status.
Canada and Saudi Arabia have similarities in social class and multi-ethnic diversity. They are immigrant population. In contrary, Saudi Arabia there is gender discrimination whereby women are allowed to drive or own business, moreover, they have cultural homogeneity which Islam. In Canada, gender discrimination is not experienced, for instance, women are allowed to investment, own property and drive. It possesses high social mobility. As a result, an individual can transform to high status, unlike Saudia Arabia.
