The Homeland security has put various measures to ensure that the American cyberspace is secure. In the rise of cyber terrorism everywhere, it is evident that the cyber security has been one of the major focuses of the Homeland security. The following are some of the major security priorities that seek to protect the American cyberspace.
There is a well-established cyber security response system. It is imperative that being proactive is better than been reactive. In this case, the department of homeland security has established a well-equipped cyber security response system that is responsible for attending to all matters of cyber security. In addition to that, the homeland security has established A National Cyberspace Security Threat and vulnerability Reduction program. The program is aimed at reducing the vulnerability of the American cyberspace to attacks, and hence reducing such threats. Moreover, A National Cyber Security Awareness and Training Program is in place aimed at sensitized the general public on the threats associated with cyber-attacks and means of protecting oneself from such. Using the above strategies, the USA has managed to protect its cyberspace and stopped hundreds of threat targeting specific departments in its economy, security, among others. For example, due to the increased awareness, up to 60% of the US businesses have increased their cyber security to almost infiltration-proof.
The cyber security profession has since grown in USA due to the increased waves for cyber-attacks. The government found it necessary to ensure that there are well-trained professionals in different sectors to help in preparation of possible cyber-attacks. Every serious businessman takes into consideration the huge risks associated with cyber-attacks and hence invests heavily in the sector.
