Danaher is a big America International Company that has its headquarters in Washington, D.C. The company came into existence in the early 1980s. This was a result of the vision of Mitchel Rales of starting a company that will be committed towards continuing to improve the satisfaction of its customers. The origin of the name Danaher came from a Celtic word, which means “swift flowing”. The company has evolved with time (Anand et al., 54). It started with Jacob’s vehicles in the late 1980s and continued to grow up to its current operations and achievements.
Danaher has achieved to build sustainable competitive advantage by always ensuring that the company’s targets surpass their actual budgets. Havins a sustainable competitive achievement has enabled the organization to achieve a lot in terms of product quality and innovation (Anand et al., 54).
The Company’s corporate strategy in terms of growth includes the fact that Danaher Corporation the organization acquires other businesses and their management system to the business. Additionally, the Corporation also emphasizes on small manufacturing procedures that can be successfully applied to all the sections of the company (Anand et al., 61).
Danaher’s key competency is its ability to take the incredible influential ideas from not only the lean production principles, but also from the other small companies that it manages to acquire. The company imposes the small manufacturing strategy to sections. This has enabled Danaher to promote the cash flow generation of its organization. In addition, the company has continued to use its immense research and expansion cores to develop new and improved technologies that are useful to both the individual section, as well as, to the entire organization (Anand et al., 63). These competencies are very rare and difficult to find in other smaller hence, it has the an advantage over them.
Danaher has over the years been categorizing its acquisition targets into three types. The categorizing of the acquisitions into different types results into diversifications because of the fact that they tend to acquire different types of business. The diversification in Dnaher is significant because it gives the consumers a chance to choose from a variety of improved products (Anand et al., 66).
The key resources and capabilities that Danaher has, which has made it successful include, the fact that the company has very loyal stakeholders. The people and organizations who have stakes in Danahers have always been supportive of the organization, Additionally, the large size of the company has also been instrumental in its growth and success. The company has also managed to make large profits over the years ‘ hence succeeding in its operations, as well as keeping its stakeholders (Anand et al., 67).
The strength of the organization lies in its good management and its large size. Moreover, the company has loyal customers who have always found satisfaction it their products. Danaher has many opportunities. It has enough resources to spread to all countries of the world. This would increase its customers and profits. However, the company also has a number of weaknesses and threats (Anand et al., 77). To start with, being an international company, Danaher has not spread well throughout the world, the company faces the threat of competition from similar organizations in its industry that are growing at a very alarming rate.
