Summary of movies and observed scientific fallacies

This paper summarizes the movies which carried meteorological issues and also enlist the scientific fallacies carried in them.
TWISTER
In the movie twister, there was a nice depiction of the meteorological concept of the tornadoes. This movie was narrated in a schematic way and also carried a good graphics part. This graphics part had become a soul of the entire movie. The whole film was based on a disastrous effect of tornadoes on normal human life. Inspite of all the interesting visualizations, this move carried certain scientific fallacies. Some of them are 1. The debris and air whooshes towards inside but it was depicted wrongly in the movie. 2. Simultaneous occurrence of lightning and sound was shown which not possible in the real world. 3 It was shown that the tornadoes wander back and forth with sudden turns, this is hardly possible. 4. The rating of the tornadoes was given in the movie by simply looking at the radar, however in real world; they are graded after analyzing the damage caused. 5. The use of tiny sensors was a previously failed technology which was shown as new in the movie is not convincing.

SHARKNADO

This movie has shown an interesting phenomenon which involved relocation of sharks by the tornadoes. This movie used good graphics to explain the intensity of tornadoes on the aquatic life. The fact expressed in the movie was supported by jet propulsion laboratory and also mentioned by insurance institute about the inclusion of possible tornado dependent debris deposition. Though, in this movie, it was shown that hurricane hit Los Angeles, however that is not entirely true. This movie has carried scientific fallacies which are 1.Hurricane formed in the eastern part of Pacific Ocean travelled all the way to Los Angeles with even a signal of tropical storm. 2. The charts and maps showed in the film never showed torrential rain or wind. 3. If hurricanes are strong enough to life the sharks, then it is possible that the heavier bodies may also be lifted, but that is not possible.
the day after tomorrow
This movie depicted facts which are near close to natural climate scenarios. The movie also nicely depicted the melting of ice caps. The effect of ice cap melting on halting Gulf Stream was also narrated in a good way. The abrupt cooling of Europe and North America due to non occurrence of Gulf Stream was also justified. Inspite of the entire near close climate mimics, the movie carried some scientific fallacies which are 1. The concept of flash freezing which was shown in the movie is not convincing, 2. It was shown that, the cold air from the higher part of atmosphere falls down to cause flash freezing, however, the air which comes down from higher altitude gets warmer and warmer, 3. The freezing speed of the cold air reaching lower altitudes was never convincing. It doesn’t matter at what speed the air moves, still it warms and makes flash freezing hardly impossible, 4. Hurricanes mostly occur over the ocean because it needs continuous feed from the heat generated from warm ocean waters. Due to this factor, the storms dissipate quickly. In this movie it is depicted that storms merge and they have an eye, however hurricane with an eye is hardly possible over land. As compared to Twister, Sharknado movies, this movie has shown a reasonable logic which approximated near accurate climate scenarios and it is convincing as per the scientific grounds.
