Thank you for providing me an opportunity to attend the conference on Workplace issues on November 3rd. It is an honor for me to have represented the conference on behalf of the company, and learn about the workplace violence. As requested, I present to you the report on the minutes of the conference, which includes the summary of the suggestions in three categories made by Kit Adkins; the presenter in the conference.
Prescreening Job Applicants
As per Kit Adkins, it is crucial for the organizations to prescreen the job applicants. Sensible companies perform the candidate’s background verification before employing them to find the authenticity of the candidate. It is noticed that the candidates withdraw the applications when the companies mention about background verification. Candidates not willing for background verification are not authentic.
Good Employee Handbook
Kit Adkins suggests to prepare a good employee handbook which includes the procedures for
employees in workplace violence situations. The handbook must include a method for informers, and must be anonymous.
Recognizing red-flag behavior
Kit suggests that companies train managers to identify workplace violence, which are termed as red-flag. Few examples of red-flag are, increased arguments with co-workers, behavioral changes that indicate family or financial problems, harassing behavior, or carrying guns to work or being obsessed with firearms.
As per my observation, prescreening the job candidates is recommended as it is more feasible. I am willing to perform more research on the prescreening techniques, and would appreciate if you let me know the further course of action before November 18th, so that a report can be produced in the management meeting on December 3rd.
