“Domestic Violence And Employment: A Qualitative Study” Critical Thinking Example

Type of Data Provided in this Study

This study was exploratory in nature, focused towards determining how women’s employment is affected by domestic violence. It was also meant to identify the tactics applied by female abusers to interfere with their jobs and the ultimate effects on female performance. In this regard, qualitative data was used. Specifically, the study involved the use of audio-taped focus groups as well as interviews from selected study sample. Additionally, it involved the use of transcribed interviews from the selected sample.

How the Author Analyzed the Data

The first method of qualitative data analysis used in the study entailed content analysis of the transcribed information that was gathered from the focus group interviews. The author also notes that the study involved the use of qualitative data software, ATLAS. ATLAS was used to enhance the process of content analysis in the study.

Lessons Picked from the Study

The study does not provide a conclusion. A conclusion is usually recommended for such studies basically to provide a summary of the entire study, the researchers’ opinions as well as his/her recommendations on how the identified challenges can be solved.

What was done well and what could be done better

The research is properly formatted with the author indicating all the necessary steps that were implemented to perform the study. The report begins by introducing its readers to the purpose of the study, which is a crucial aspect of any qualitative or quantitative research. However, the author could have included a conclusion in this research to indicate his/her opinions as well as recommendation on how the identified challenges could be resolved.
