Educator’s Platform Essays Example

As an educator, I have always believed in the values of support, engagement and lifelong learning in the course of teaching students. I am a teacher who believes also in providing the students with everything they need in order to learn and become adept in the things that they will do later on in life.
I know that the students will not learn unless they have the support of their teacher. I think that my main role in teaching is as a facilitator, or a vehicle for learning. I can do this by providing all the support that students will need. This can be done by acknowledging and understanding the individual needs of the students, as students have their own intelligences and ways of learning. Thus, for the visual student, I can provide all the visual aids necessary for him to learn. For the motor-skilled student, I will provide him with motor-skills based activities so that he can come to understand a lesson, and so on for all the intelligences.
It will always be necessary to create situations wherein the students remain engaged and focused on the lessons on hand. If there is a current TV show or movie that is somehow related to the lesson, I will encourage the students to watch this show or movie, and include the same in the activities to support the lesson. One of the keys to student engagement is to keep the students engaged in various activities.
Finally, I believe in lifelong learning. Even if my students get to finish their respective college courses in the future, they should be encouraged to study once more whether it would be taking formal classes or informal classes. On my own, I would also like to engage in further learning in order to improve my craft as a teacher. New ideas are always welcome for me, and I would not hesitate to share this with my students at all times.
