Essay On Aztecs And Inkas
Aztecs and Incas are well-known for their buildings and mythology and are considered to be one of those nations we do not know a lot about. However, we have some information and can make a parallel between some of their building and their way of living. As far as Aztecs are concerned, they believed in a lot of gods that could symbolise animals or powers of nature. There was a legend in the beginning that said that Aztecs chose their land when they saw an eagle sitted on the cactus that was on the southwest border of Lake Texcoco and later on Aztecs made their settlement over there. They had a lot of gods, but as in any other religion we could see the three main gods: Huitzilopochtli who was a god of war and of the sun, Quetzalcoatl (Feathered Serpent) and Toltec god who served many significant roles in the Aztec faith during the years. Of course, they built a lot of temples and made sacrifices for these gods, but also I saw the connection with alliance that Aztec had with the Texcocans and the Tacubans to defeat( three Gods- three “countries”). The stone circle that depicts sacrifices and the main god of the sun in the centre is the most popular work of art that always is associated in our mind with this tribe. Moreover, I have found a painting that shows human sacrifices. This is a two dimensional colorful picture with no shades. I can say that the way people are drawn there is something alike with Egyptian drawings. As far as Inkas are concerned, the way their settlements were laid out depicted their way of living. They did not trade, so they had no markets. Moreover, they were all united and the fact that government built canals and fountains to control the flow of water throughout the empire shows that, however, if a particular village could not pay its taxes, the whole water supply would be cut off. They were all hardworking and believed that they worked for the Sun, the king, the shrines, sowing, harvesting, spinning, and weaving. All in all, I can make the conclusion that most of the empires of them typed of the religion made a people or animal sacrifice and believed in the powers of nature.
