United States of America constitution is categorical in the protection of its citizens especially from abuse of power by the government. To begin with, there are various Amendments purposefully designed to give protection to citizens on the ruling government. The Twelfth Amendment (1804) provides power to its citizens to elect the President and Vice President. Further, Twenty-seventh Amendment (1992) helps citizens have responsible leaders. For example, the current Senate cannot pass a bill for pay rise; instead any recommendations will affect the next session hence become more cautious.
Historically, the individuals who formed the constitution, for example, Madison, used the principle of separation of power. Mostly, power tends to be complex. The Articles of Confederation provided clauses that showed the need for the government to have the power it deserves to accomplish goals beneficial to citizens.
Citizens have the right to revolution if the government fails to deliver. According to Locke, the constitution is a tool that keeps the government in line with the constitution clauses. The various amendments are vital because it ensures that there is no abuse of power, and the sitting government delivers its manifesto. The President also has power to veto a law passed by Congress that may infringe on the rights of the citizens. Additionally, appointments made by the president require Senate approval. Furthermore, the judicial arm of government that is the Supreme Court can declare certain laws passed by Congress as unconstitutional. Therefore, the safeguards are vital until today.
The principles of USA Constitution entails the following; the separation of powers, checks and balances, limited powers, presidential form, mixed government, and federalism. The principles of its drafting were essential in ensuring that the Constitution is organized. Current American situation utilizes the principles in upholding the constitution. It tends to act as a summary of the constitution which enhances there are no conflicts or tyrannies.
