Heart diseases as indicated in the CDC (2014) are highly prevalent among the USA citizens with 1 out of 4 of the deaths being as a result of heart diseases. Heart diseases are associated with the lifestyle an individual life styles. Taking food with high cholesterol levels increases the chances for one developing heart diseases. In addition, high blood pressure that is associated with one’s lifestyles too contributes significantly to development of heart diseases. People with diabetes mellitus have a higher chance of developing heart diseases, and, therefore, individual with diabetes mellitus ought to work close with healthcare providers to manage it well (CDC, 2014). Other risk factors include tobacco smoking, taking alcohol, reduced physical activity, and fatty diets.
Heart diseases being a chronic illness have various social and healthcare impacts. In the healthcare, the high prevalent rate is causing pressure on the available resources, increasing the overall budget allocation, as well funds for sensitization campaign. The death of a citizen due to heart diseases is also a loss to the nation. Socially, those affected by heart dieses tend be face stigma due to their conditions, others have reduced productivity at work while others completely lose their job. The high care demand associated with heart diseases leaves many poor, and hence they feel rejected by the society.
The high prevalence of heart diseases among the American is because of lifestyles the citizens live. The rise of fast foods has contributed huge amounts of fatty acids, and cholesterol that contribute to cholesterol accumulation in the blood. There has been reduced activity in the advent of the technology that reduces the workout levels of the people. It is possible to solve the problem of heart diseases. Creating awareness and offering good dietary options would definitely have a positive response. The only sure way to handle the problem is to offer support to the general public to live a healthy lives. The cost of creating awareness is much less than the cost of treating the heart diseases.
