Essay On My Personal Philosophy Of Nursing

First of all I would like to mention that nurses play a leading role in solving the problems of medical and social care and improving the quality and efficiency of health care in health care facilities. The functions of a nurse and a variety of activities that nurses are responsible for, are not only diagnostic and treatment processes, but also patient care until the full rehabilitation of the patient.
The first definition of nursing was given by the world-famous nurse Florence Nightingale, who is considered to be the founder of what we now call «nursing». In her famous «Notes on Nursing» that was published in 1859, she wrote that nursing is all about a performance with the use of the patient's environment to help his recover. And i tend to agree with this statement.
I have already been working as a nurse for 23 years, and the number one major thing that I can tell about, is that I believe in one golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. My idea is that this rule is good for everyone, but if you are a nurse this rule is your duty.
My philosophy of nursing is in understanding nursing as a science and as an art that is aimed at solving the existing problems related to human health in always changing environment conditions.
I would like to finish, highlighting that the basic principle of the philosophy of nursing is a respect for human rights and dignity. And this principle must be realized not only in the attitude to the patient, but also in cooperation between nurses and other professionals.
