Great Depression in the United States was the longest economic downturn that happens for about ten years. One of the causes was the downfall of the stock market and eventually the economy causing investors rubbed out and shaken the public. Another was the ceasing of purchasing goods that led to production loss and resulting to unemployment. The bank problem failure was another, which the depositors withdrew all of their money, changed it into currency making the supply of the money to drop. Thus, this event worsens price deflation creating business struggles in time.
Since racial tensions exist, mass migrations made the African-Americans to transfer to other places. It also affects the farming, mining and other works leading to the downfall of the prices of the crop. They seek for job and food. Others became thieves resulting to crime rate increase. There was malnutrition, poor health care, prostitution, suicide cases, and poor quality of education. Marriages were postponed, increase in abandonment and divorce.

The Great Migration and New Deal

The African-Americans were rigidly affected because of depression, since there was a massive unemployment they move out from rural to urban communities. This movement was called the Great Migration. They experienced racism, violence of killing, lack of opportunities, and exclusion. Even in public assistance, they received less support and disregarded charitable institutions. However, when they migrated they found job opportunities in industrial workers, better schools for their children; adult men could now vote causing integration in the society they belong.
The New Deal under economic recovery plan of Franklin D. Roosevelt is good. It provided assistance for the poor and unemployed putting back the economy to normal levels. The economic system was restructured to prevent the repeat of depression. Then, this deal was the valued plan to support the rebuilding of the financial aspect of the United States and preventing the occurrence of the depression again.
