Essay On Wildlife Conservation
Abstract
The use of Unmanned Air Vehicles and drones in the world has increased drastically. This has been through an effort to put an end to illegal poaching in several countries in the world. The UAV’s were meant to protect rhinos and elephants among other world life. This two species are facing extinction threats due to increased poaching in the modern world. Their tusks are the main items that poachers want and leave the animals brutally wounded after they remove the tusks. Poachers seemed to have learnt new methods through which they could go through wildlife police checks. Corruption in high officials also enabled poachers to kill and get away with the crime. The rhinos decreased drastically across the world due to this. There was also a growing Asian market for the tusks that were believed to cure certain diseases. With the lack of trust from some of the officials and their inability to watch animals for long periods as they also moved, there was a need to simplify this. There needed to be a way in which the animals could be watched at all times and get the poachers. UAV’s were the best candidates as they could relay and store the information they got. Drones on the other hand could carry out attacks on the poachers and keep them a bay as the wildlife police arrived. This solution could be trusted because the footages taken could be reviewed. A UAV also had sensors that could detect human and animal movements unlike humans making it more effective. The method was introduced in many countries that aim at ending the poaching nightmare of their animals.
