Key areas of the selected company's code of conduct that are of significant importance to the business

A code of conduct basically refers to a set of regulations highlighting the accountabilities of, or suitable practices for, a person, or company (Pride et. al., 2008). The code of conduct is commonly written for staff members of an organization that safeguards the business and notifies the employees about the organization’s expectations (Kalinda, 2001). The vision of Ruby Tuesday Inc (RTI) is offering superior value to the guests and an exceptional working atmosphere for the Team Members through reflecting its core values of Passion, Quality and Pride in everything the corporation performs. In upholding this vision, RTI has taken up this Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, the chief purpose of which is confirming RTI's dedication towards conducting its operations with the greatest integrity.

Key steps that the company should take to ensure that employees follow the code of conduct

For any business to remain successful it is highly necessary to make sure that they have certain set of regulations or rules for all its stakeholders (Zerk, 2006). All stakeholders must properly follow all the rules set by the company. In case if they fail to do so they would be liable for facing the penalty (May et. al., 2007). Additionally, taking the case of RTI it can be stated that the company has certain set rules and code of conduct for all its employees. RTI takes several steps for ensuring that employees follow the code of conduct. RTI wants its employees, directors and officers to follow sound business practices; follow appropriate laws, regulations and rules; and be committed towards high ethical standards. It is considered as being the responsibility of an employee to remain familiar with these rules. Any inefficiency to follow the rules highlighted in this Code can lead to disciplinary action up to and taking in employment termination by RTI and potential exposure to criminal and civil penalties under state and federal regulations. Employees must also report any infringement of the Code to the supervisor, the General Counsel or the Compliance Officer. There wouldn’t be any retaliation against person who does such a report. Moreover, employees should also be expected to make use of sound judgment in the resourceful use of RTI resources. The misuse, theft or waste of any RTI resource through an employee should lead to penalizing action up to and taking in employment termination, and/or likely criminal and civil penalties. All employees of RTI should make an effort to deal reasonably with company’s suppliers, customers and competitors, along with other employees, directors and officers of RTI. They should in no case take undue advantage of these people by way of concealment, manipulation, privileged information abuse, material facts misrepresentation or any other act, which might be regarded as being unjust dealing.
