All the programs offered by the university reflect the alignment of the knowledge and the expectation of the programs. Upon graduation, the students must develop the ability to think critically. Psychology helps the students to know various methods to dealing with various forms of diverse things in the universe.
It is the moral duty of every individual in the society to act ethically and with integrity. Living in a closed environment was the sole contributor to the problems that I encountered in the university. I feel humiliated when I remember the day when I enrolled in the University. Everything looked unique, and I could not understand the way things moved on to the campus. I felt that life was unfair because I could not feel the happiness that comes with attaining university entrance. There was a diverse way of enjoying life, and I was not ready to join any of the ways depicted by my friends. I continued to stay indoors at night and during daytime I could only attend classes. I came to remember that the world will only become the best place to when I follow my heart. The first year ended without any problems since I could not engage in any illegal activity.
It is evident that when the time for change is nigh there is no way to change anything other than becoming a spectator of events. Life started changing drastically as I continued advancing; I realized that life was sweeter when one plans on the best methods to enjoy. Life continued to move as I continued to learn different things that were happening in the university. Being a psychologist in the making, I participated in different occasions of reclaiming the lives of desperate people. Through taking my studies very seriously, one non-governmental organization that was operating in the city hired my services. It was a pleasure working with the organization because I helped a number of people.
One of the special people I helped was my uncle who was nursing stress. He had worked in one company where he dedicated the whole of his life for the prosperity of the company. After working for the company for fifteen years, the company decided to end his services indefinitely. He had no source of income and did not have ways to raise the required amount to run his daily affair. It was not an easy way to help him but due to the field experience and proper training from the university I managed to help him (Brock 2006).
It is not an easy task to determine the problem that a person is suffering from without conducting proper investigation and analysis. I identified the problem to be stress since my uncle’s explanations were pointing out at the stress that was growing to become a depression. Other people taught that he had changed from his ways of conduct because he could not recognize people easily. I took the option of counseling him in the most appropriate way to ensure restoration of his mind and calmness since he could not think calmly. As a psychologist, I could not let any chances of helping someone close to me slip away through lack of commitment. After a few days, I could see signs of restoration and advancements that motivated me to continue with the job. I did not face any difficulties helping my uncle because it was my obligation to ensure his restoration to help my young cousins prosper (Randolph 2005).
In conclusion, knowledge gained from Ashford University gives students a better chance of helping the society. The lecturers at the University are very instrumental in imparting knowledge to the students. The psychology field requires experience and proper research for one to be competent in the field.
