My excitement over acceptance into the Master of Digital Media Program, as well as its eventual completion knows no bounds. I think about it daily, even hourly. Throughout this time, I have had the chance to set many goals for myself concerning things I would like to accomplish upon its completion. They are not only goals, but also expectations I have of myself. Obtaining a high level of education deserves adequate service to the professional community afterward, and I intend to do myself, and the institution justice.
While the core competencies of the program and maintaining them in my work are of the utmost importance to me, so is the teamwork that will be instilled in me throughout the program. From a journalistic perspective, I am but one part of a multimedia team and, as such, am required to cooperate within the constructs of a team lest our message never coherently reach the eyes and ears of the audience. Working in a team has never been a struggle for me, but understanding parts of multimedia that do not come naturally and trusting others to make my vision come to life, while also doing my part to breathe life into their idea is an expectation I have set for myself. It is, if nothing else, an exercise in trust, as my team and I will plumb the deepest depths of what we all want to accomplish. In doing so, we will learn to trust one another to see that our visions are adequately broadcast to the audience by working together and communicating cooperatively. It is imperative I remain patient and open-minded.
Working in a team brings me to my final, and perhaps most important goal that I have set for myself upon completion of the MDM program. While many see completion of the program as goal enough, that is not for me. As stated, a great education deserves something great in return; I believe that something great is being given to me and I want to pay it back. Therefore, my goal is to do something that will change the world, however minute and insignificant. In whatever journalistic prowess I am granted, whether it is in television, radio broadcasting, or periodicals, I aim to make a change, even in a few lives, with whatever I do within the confines of my abilities and the abilities of my team.
I look forward to working with you and making your institution proud during my time there, and afterward, as well. Thank you for your time.
