Movie Review

The film “Catch Me If You Can” was released in 2002 and is an example of the true story (faction). Frank W. Abagnale has managed to work as a Georgia doctor, Louisiana perish prosecutor and Pan American World Airways pilot – all of this before he gets even 21. Being a master of fraud and cheating, he also has succeeded in document falsification that at the end has brought him millions of dollars which he obtained using false checks. The FBI agent Carl Hanratty is ready to do whatever it takes to catch Frank and put him into jail for his crimes but Frank is always one step ahead making the FBI agent continue his pursuit. When Frank has been finally caught for his machinations, the FBI turns to him to help in catching other criminals. It turns out to be an interesting mutually beneficial cooperation.
Such government agencies as the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Internal Revenue Service are discussed in this film. These two agencies come across as positive in the film. However Frank's father suffered from investigations and accusations of the IRS, it is represented as a public service that serves for the benefit of every citizen by punishing those who avoid taxation. The FBI is also represented positively when after long pursuit they manage to catch the criminal and use him for catching others.
There is no legal change made by this film. It just shows that sometimes even the most awkward cooperation can be fruitful and if there is any chance to catch more criminals, the government agencies must do whatever it takes. The film does not generate any political or viewer response and does not invoke any questions about changing laws and regulations.
The film is accurate in its portrayal of the government agencies but in my opinion the personal characteristics of agents of both institutions are little bit exaggerated. For example, the chief aim of agent Hanratty is to catch Abagnale and he acts as if there were no other criminals and cases to work on. The portrayal of these agencies is not biased.
I would definitely recommend this film because it is very interesting story based on real events. A person who managed to avoid being caught by the FBI for quite a log period of time deserves attention even if he is a criminal. His willingness to cooperate deserves admiration as well. Nice actors' play contributes very much to the film comprehension.

Argo
The film “Argo” was released in 2012 and is an example of the true story (faction). On the 4th of Novermber, 1979 the Iran Revolution seems to be at apogee with the Islamists attacking the US embassy in Teheran. They capture 52 Americans as hostages. But in this chaos six of them succeed to escape and find asylum in the Canadian ambassador's house. Realizing that their disclosure and, most probably, murder is a question of time, Tony Mendez, the US Central Intelligence Agency operative, suggests risky plan of secure evacuation. The plan is so unbelievable that this can happen only on the screen. His idea is to pass diplomats as actors thus granting them a chance to escape from the rebel country.
Such government agencies as the Central Intelligence Agency and the US embassy in Iran are discussed in this film. It also mentions the State Department but it is discussed too briefly. The CIA and embassy come across as positive in the film. The CIA employs risky and smart operatives who are ready to undertake the responsibility and by all means possible save their nationals. This agency has all arsenal of means necessary for the craziest plan in as short a time as possible. The US embassy is represented as the one that highly respects diplomatic secrets and diplomatic protocol. The diplomats get rid of every document for it not to belong to enemies. They also show high level of self-control working under difficult circumstances.
There is no legal change made by this film. It just shows that sometimes even the craziest idea may be really useful and if fulfill every detail of the plan, the result will be positive. The diplomats played a real movie facing death threat but they knew that if you feel support and if you believe, you may succeed. The film does not generate any political or viewer response and does not invoke any questions about changing laws and regulations.
The film is accurate in its portrayal of the government agencies and the director paid much attention to details that makes the government agencies' work more realistic and understandable for everyone who watches movie. The portrayal of these agencies is not biased.
I would definitely recommend this film because it has received so many different awards that undoubtedly puts it in the must-watch list. Taking into account that it is based on real events, it also serves as perfect representation of recent history. The play is awesome and the plot is exciting.

Thank You for Smoking
The film “Thank You for Smoking” was released in 2005 and is an example of the fiction. The job Nick Naylor has is not easy one. He must lobby tobacco smoking by all means possible. It seems that this is madness to start conflict with ardent opponents of smoking and try to prove the utility of the latter. But this is exactly what Nick has to do. And he has managed to succeed a lot in it by promoting smoking at talk-shows and different TV programs, and advertising cigarettes in movies. However, Nick himself has never considered smoking to be useful. He promotes cigarettes just to earn money and keep his son.
Such government agencies as the Academy of Tobacco studies which mission is not to eliminate smoking because it is harmful but to promote it for the benefit of large tobacco companies. The above-mentioned Academy has researched the link between smoking and lung cancer. Funded primarily by tobacco companies it fails to prove this connection thus turning smoking into completely healthy process.
There is no legal change made by this film. It just shows the reality of the modern world. Big companies in attempt to make fortunes do whatever it takes including bribes and blackmailing in order to promote its product. They may establish even special agencies that will support ideas that need being supported and promoted publicly. People who work for such organizations often do not share same values but they do their work to ensure normal living conditions for their families. The film does not generate any political or viewer response and does not invoke any questions about changing laws and regulations.
The film is not accurate in its portrayal of the government agencies because this Academy does not exist in reality. Thus it has prototype as the Tobacco Institute founded in 1958 and dissolved in 1998. The portrayal of these agencies is not biased. Even though the Academy mentioned in the film has real prototype, it is really difficult to compare them especially if we are going to judge its activity.
I would definitely recommend this film because watching it we are taught to see things differently, to criticize everything that TV or radio says to us and to consider what is better for us ourselves. It shows that good people sometimes are forced to do bad things just because they have to earn money and keep their families. This film also describes that even if somebody does not support what he or she is obliged to do to receive money and if this person continue to do it for a long time, he or she would not be able to give up doing this in future.
