15+15+15=35
They all read equal amount of books. This means, that Sam read 20 books, Mathew read 20 books and Kelvin read 20 books. Totally: 20+20+20=60 books. And this is 3/5 of the whole amount. If the amount of books in the library is x, then we can construct the following equation:
35*x=60x=60*53=3003=100
The total amount of books in the library is 100 books. Sam read 20, Mathew read 20, Kelvin read 20 and 40 books are left unread.
