Besides, it is a strong propaganda tool. This article show that even a documentary films or documentary dramas, which are aimed to demonstrate the life as it is and just to fix the changes in the course of the development can be staged and performed by a huge amounts of actors. The article shows that lots of human resources were used to create a powerful image of the socialist city, which is happy to be deliberated. Moreover, not only the cinema constructed such a perception. Cartoons, posters and other means of visual arts supported the vision. It is needed to admit that such measures were successful enough to create an image of Shanghai as a Communist city.
Sentinels puts forth starkly the message, implicit in previous films about Shanghai's takeover, that the city's streets are an ideological battleground (436). On the flip side, this sentence proves that a film can create an opposite meaning among the people. As soon as the general line of the party was changed, the cinema turned from one image to another. The article shows how easy the cinema can manipulate the mind. It is amazing how visual images can influence the perception of the history. The research has a broader perspective. It helps to understand the depth of the propagandistic techniques used not only by the Chinese Communist Party but all over the world. The cinema is viewed everywhere on the Earth. Any movie can be the propaganda of a lifestyle, idea or concept.
