Nevertheless, the Internet of Things has got Challenges in system of privacy, security and price. The Goals are formed according to the Mater’s Graduate Program and personal plans. The last part of L&D plan is the Competency Assessment, which includes my cultural and social along with managerial and technical competences, based on my education and work experience.
SELF-INTRODUCTION
My education started from the High School of Engineering in CeskaLipa (Czech Republic) from 1991 to 1995. The following steps of education I got in Sydney (Australia). From 2007 to 2009, I studied in the Central College and graduated with Advanced Diploma of Accounting. Considering that fact, I am planning to work in IT Industry I studied and received a Diploma of IT (Networking) in ACCIT. Immediately I went to study at the CSU to gain a Bachelor of IT (Network Engineering, System Administration) in 2012. I decided to have a Master’s diploma for the further career, so in February 2015 I entered the APIC in Sydney to study the Masters of Business and Project Management program.
I started my career from several projects. In 1996, I got a post of Junior Purchasing Officer in the Kovos Teplice (Czech Republic). I was responsible for all purchasing activities; maintaining the relationships between internal and external stakeholders and negotiations. In 1999, I grew to the Senior Purchasing Officer. From 2002, I worked as a Quality Assurance Officer. The main responsibilities were: to establish and manage quality control policies and standards; to manage and train staff; to take part in the certification process of ISO 9001. My career in Kovos Teplice had been continued up to 2005. In 2004, I coordinated the design, hardware purchasing and configuration of APs of the Municipal wireless network. Currently I have been working in Australian College of Commerce and Information Technology as Network/System Administrator Assistant since 2011. I have duties in network, applications/systems management and administration. In particular, I control the internal network of the College and maintain its’ efficiency; the Distance and Online Learning Education System and the software throughout the College; and run the Help Desk to help students or staff.
On the side I participated in several individual courses in Sydney: “First Aid” (Just Careers Training), “Optical Fibre Cabling External”, “Windows Server 2008 Administration” etc.
THE BIG PICTURE
This part of the L&D plan represents the Big Picture of the IT Industry, particularly, the Things of Internet (IoT). The Big Picture contains the information about what place sits the IoT in the development of infrastructure and communications in Australia, what we should expect from the IoT and what challenges the business projects face now and will face in future.
IoTis an ecosystem, which connects the physical objects all over the world (Heusser L., 2014). Objects in the system can communicate, perceive and transmit the data to each other. They are connected with internet and work with information without involvement of people (Farooq S., 2014).
The IoTis really a phenomenon of globalization processes. Moreover, Australian businesses take many benefits from using IoT. 41% of businesses in Australia use the IoT, according to the Microsoft research (2015). The explosion of devices creating IoT in Australia started in 2013 and the number of them was 1,276. Today this number is 1,907 and Microsoft predicts that in 2017 the number of devices on the M2M (machine-to-machine) market in Australia will be more than 3,000. 65% of businesses, which use IoT, have got cost saving in the operation of company (65%), efficiency (53%), the increase of revenue (38%) and customer satisfaction (23%). To conclude this statistics Microsoft says that organizations in Australia get three main benefits from using IoT: improvement of product/service quality (37%); improvement in business decision making (37%) and 31% in operational intelligence (2015). This research shows that businesses in Australia are on the verge of a great opportunity to transform their structures and be more successful.
The real examples of success with using IoT already exist in Australia. There are 10 modern companies that form new business market in Australia. According to the Deloitte research (White K., 2014) this list consists from: LIFX, Smash Wearables, Moore’s Cloud, Wearable Experiments, Ninja Blocks, WattCost, Catapult Sports; LEAPIN Digital Keys, Homeboy and GoFar.
MEGATRENDS AND CHALLENGES OF THE INTERNET OF THINGS
The megatrend is to transform all systems (business, social, health care, economy, transport, administrative etc.) of the state and improve the national competitiveness of Australiausing the benefits of the Internet of Things.
It is expected that the IoT market will increase world widely at an early date. Gartner predicts that Internet of Things will make 300 billion dollars of income by 2020 for businesses (2014). That means all devices will range from 25 billion to more than 250 billion dollars.
Furthermore, not only business can enjoy the benefits of IoT. Ordinary people and even government of whole state can use this new concept in IT Industry. Australia Business Insider claims that number of connected-home devices will increase annually up to 65%. People will buy smart appliances for house (particularly, kitchen and laundry),install security systems and smart energy equipment (Davona T., 2015). Great Britain is the first state, which implemented the transport technology based on the IoT. It allows reducing traffic jams and accidents in the country with the help of internet devices.This megatrend will spread to the Australia in coming years (Barrie J., 2015). Government can use the Internet of Things in administration and resource management. With the help of project management and IT devices government can transform the system of transport and delivery, economy and health care system (Vega E., 2014).
The Internet of Things in Australia itself faces with some barriers like:
Lack of common standards to run the devices and technologies (Greenough J., 2015);
Fear of customers and businesses to use IT technologies (Weissman C.G., 2015);
Concerns in security and privacy (Microsoft, 2015);
High price of some IT services (Microsoft, 2015).
