Characteristics needed for Healthcare Managers to Initiate and Sustain Change in the Environment
While I think the conceptual understanding is essential for managers spearheading the change process within the organization, I think it is not always enough to guarantee that the management will be successful in securing the desired changes. As such, I consider various characteristics necessary for Healthcare Managers to not only initiate, but also sustain change within the organization environment. These include communication skills, negotiation skills, the ability to provide leadership, ability to work effectively with diverse teams, as well as the ability to motivate and handle relationships with others.
The most important thing to Successful Decision-making
Given my experience with health care administration, I have learnt that change attracts different reactions and attitudes from everyone who might be in a position to experience the changes either directly or indirectly. Indeed, those who support change will present with a positive attitude .Alternatively, the unsupportive group may present in a somber mood and a negative attitude. Given this, if not well coordinated such representatives may cause wrangles and quarrels. As such, I believe the best decisions that a management can make is encouraging the participation of the two groups prior to reaching a solution concerning the implementation of the new changes and explain the best way in which the changes implemented will incorporate the unsupportive ones.
Ethical Issues that a Healthcare Administrator might face with his/her Organization
In light of the above, an ethical issue that a healthcare administrator might face within his or her organization is the issue of fairness. If a group of staff is considered as gaining over the others due to alterations, there can certainly be anger and disruption. Given this, the administrators ought to try their best to discourage the thoughts of unfairness. A significant way of achieving this is to organize a meeting whereby the all staff can raise their views and offer input regarding the proposed change.
