The poem enlightens, motivates, and clears the mind. It shows a confident person and inspires ones to be the same. Because you are the only one, who knows who you are and what you want to do. I am split between the confident stroll through a big city and leisurely stroll through the countryside. We not only feel the power in ourselves to be whom we are but are also reminded of our connections. Our parents and their parents, and their parents as well all came from nature. Generations connect us and this must not forget this. “Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their parents the same” (Whitman, 23)Yet, it is not only the confidence that jumps out at you. It is the meaning of life presented in this small piece of art. Never to cease until death and use every moment of life on this planet with meaning, never wasting but always moving forward.
If by E. E. Cummings
So often, we think, “if only something was different”. This poem shows that sometimes even all that is wrong is right in the end. Because with changing the bad, we change others and ourselves around me. While the poem starts out about a point of view for life, something that I felt was a bit of an optimistic point of view. A point of view that shows that somethings are just mean to be. Then comes the explanation that with changes to the world, you will change. We do not know if the author is talking to us or perhaps to a special someone. Yet when we get to the end and see that we will change with other changes of the world, I realized that this is also a poem about love. “We wouldn’t be we” (Cumming) About being in love with the person us as he/she it and being in love with the couple that they together make.
