Example Of Essay On What Can You See Yourself 5 Years From Now?
I still remember when I was a child and people used to ask me “what do you want to be?”, without batting my eyelids, I used to express my desire to become an artist, fireman, pilot, teacher, astronaut or whatever profession that popped into my little mind at the moment. As I grew up, providing answer to the question became more difficult. These days when someone asks the same question, I take a pause and think for a long time before answering something. Sometimes, I just say that I am not sure. This is not because I am not sure of what I want to be, but looking at life and weighing this question from the mindset of a grownup, I realize that there are some real life constraints that bear down on our dreams, and sometimes I feel really confused. However, at some point in life, one cannot just avoid the question and needs to choose a path from the options he has. I am at a juncture in life when focusing on my current assignments and problems is not sufficient; rather I need to focus on where I want to see myself in 5 years from now so as to determine my future career goals. This is a very important decision as this may very well dictate the rest of the course of my life.
The future is hard to predict. Many a time we do not have full control over our life, especially when most of the decisions I have taken, till now, were highly influenced by my parents. I am currently studying a combination of science and arts subject. My parents want me to become a lawyer. However, I have developed a deep interest in animation technology and want to be a graphics designer.
During my childhood, I was hooked on to cartoon programs and animation movies aired on the TV. This might be common for most of the children to watch cartoon and animation shows, but for me, it was more than just watching. I was always interested in knowing how cartoon characters are made and how they move across the screen like real life movie characters. Movies made by Pixar Studios always made a special mark in my mind for their superior animation characterization and graphics. Some of my favorites are Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Incredibles. I always cherished a longing to work in the animation industry, especially in Pixar Studios.
As I will be completing my schooling in the near future, my first task to pursue my dream is to convince my parents that graphics design is something I love and that is the industry where I see myself working happily and successfully in the near future. Law is something that may generate money if I successfully finish my law studies, but I will never enjoy working as a lawyer. I know convincing my parents of my dream career will be a tough job as hailing from a lawyer family, everyone at home wants me to become a lawyer, but I hope that when my parents will realize about my passion for animation graphics, they would guide me through my chosen career.
