Example Of Essay On Why It Is Necessary To Check The Power Of Majorities AND The Best Way To Accomplish It For New Democracy;
Illiberal Democracy
Illiberal democracy and how it differs from the way democracy has been practiced in the US and Western Europe according to Zakaria;
Zakaria gives a critical description of illiberal democracy as a political system with free and fair elections but having a dictatorship in the rule of law as well as provides limits on the basic rights and freedoms of people. Zakaria further discussed the natural spectrum of illiberal democracy, for instance; he explained that elections rarely conducted as free and fair contest that do not reflect the reality of popular participation in the entire political elections.
Further, Zakaria gives a broad explanation of how illiberal democracy differs from the way democracy has been practiced in the U.S and Western Europe. For example, he gives an illustration on the constitution liberation developed in the United States and Western Europe as a defensive tool of the individual’s right to life and property as well as ensures freedom of religion and speech. In addition, United State and Western Europe also ensure there stability to secure these rights by emphasizing proper checks on the power of each branch of government to maintain equality under the law, impartial courts and tribunals as well as eliminate the separation of churches and the states. However, illiberal democracy is much different to these democracies factors maintained in the United States and Western Europe, as it only deploy free election but infringe the right to life and property. Inclusion, illiberal democracy does not critically regulate the powers of the government. Hence, the government takes a lot of dictatorships and even not a concern with the well-being of its people. Thus, this is contrary to the United States and Western Europe that are more concerned with the well-being of their people.
In a more comprehensive way, for a nation to achieve a stable state of liberal democracy, it has to counter check the power of the majorities to overall national powers. Thus, it ensures fiercely battle in every federal intrusion onto the turf as well as to uphold the private business sector that could lead to misappropriation by the over power of the majorities. This entirely focuses on the grand base of an avowedly pessimistic conception of human nature, for instance, assuming that people cannot be trusted with power then there could not be a good reason for creating leadership in the entire nations of the world. But, being most human beings cannot portray the goodness of their nature it requires supervision and checking of the political powers. Hence, it promotes the high level of attaining liberal democracy, a state in which the nation is majorly concerned about the well-being of its people. In addition, it helps the nation to attain the constitutional liberalism that includes all processes of getting genuine liberalization and democratization to improve the national endowment for democracy as well as enforcing equality in addressing issues concerned with human rights.
The appropriate way to accomplish total reduction misuse of power by the majorities, the nation should create a better environment for the life, liberty, and happiness of its people than practicing either dictatorship or illiberal democracies. Even though, the pressures of global capitalism can sometimes push the process of liberalization forward. On the other hand, there is great need to revive the constitutionalism of the nation for instance; it becomes a great drawback to the achievement of liberal democracy. This help in reducing, the effect of overemphasis on pure democracy that gives a little effort to creating imaginative constitutions for the development and transition of the country.
I totally agree with Zakaria the author that we live in a democratic age that considers much of human history and implement ways to accomplish any danger to human’s life, liberty and happiness. However, he explains that all this can be achieved by all nations, through a result of a free will of monarchies, the ethical conduct of churches, the war of dictatorship and illiberal democracy as well as total shade off over the totalitarianism. Thus, it can lead to a state of attaining liberal democracy and also boost the economy of the nation through proper access to global markets. In addition, I also agree with Zakaria description of the illiberal democracy as he makes people have a greater understanding of the concept. For instance, he gives a distinctive explanation between the liberal democracy and illiberal democracy, he outline that liberal democracy is a political system that is not marked only by free and fair elections, but also by the regulations of authority, a distinction of powers that gives credit to the protection of human value and dignity either right to life or to property. However, he illustrates that a state of illiberal democracy can allow free and fair elections but on negative side highly infringes the human rights as well as deploys high level of misuse of power. Thus, these are all factious and have witnessed in different parts of the world. Inclusion, the rise of illiberal democracy in any nation can highly lead to more demerits to human life than merits; hence a democratic nation should aim at achieving a stable state of liberal democracy.
