Religion forms world view of people and influences their behavior. People who really have faith in their hearts are capable of many beautiful things and can truly be considered as those who possess divine force. However, religions differ as well as priorities and opinions. It is hard to find two people, who share absolutely common views on the nature of the sacred in a single congregation, let alone different ones. It makes our big world even more mysterious and interesting.
In the Christian tradition the main goal is to love God and all people. All the sacred comes from God and His injunctions. Living righteous life will lead a person to eternal life in heaven. People relationship with God crucified and risen Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The main idea lies in equality and honesty; liberation is already available to everyone. Buddhists consider that the nature of the sacred lies in the method of living and self-guidance. Buddha only modeled the right way of doing this. Every believer goes through reincarnation cycles and each previous life affects the following. Only those who pay lots of efforts in order to work off bad karma have chance to attain liberation. As one can notice, two of the teachings see the nature of sacred absolutely different and are guided by the opposite ideas.
I find it very interesting that we all see the world differently according to our beliefs. Moreover, Buddhists use such categories and principles that completely contrast to those we here consider to be “true.” For example, Christianity is all about mercy, grace and forgiveness while these concepts are absolutely foreign for Buddhist. Instead Buddhists are often concerned about truth and followership. Buddhists see many paths to the goal and Buddha is one of the many ways, while Christians believe that Jesus is the only way to God. In the Christian tradition soul is considered to be immortal and eternal while Buddhism states that there is no soul, it is indeed an illusion. Consequently, one can hardly prove that his or her particular views are indeed right; after all they all can be challenged.
