Thoughts and opinions
My experience while taking part in human service activities widened my horizons to the need to assist vulnerable people. Human beings undergo various forms of difficulties arising from their inability to meet immediate needs. Because of this failure, some these people become prone and susceptible to challenges of life. Thus, offering a helping hand in alleviating human suffering and taking part in community activities can help redress pertinent world’s problems. I believe that human services promote the delivery of services because it addresses the quality of direct services. It also improves accessibility and accountability among various bodies concerned with delivery of services.

What has changed?

I took note of various changes that have occurred within the framework of human service delivery. Human services framing encompass various competencies for direct service workers. Community Skills Standards that guide the delivery of services are premised upon valid job analysis (Healthy People, 2010). They offer descriptions of the roles of workers in a wide range of services. They describe roles and responsibilities in critical competencies. These competencies include advocacy, networking, and community empowerment. The changes have been made to improve delivery of services.

Perspectives gained

The experience enabled me to gain a lot of information concerning the provision of human services. I learned that voluntary participation exposes an individual to developing a holistic view of humanity. I learned that the entire human race can live in harmony if everyone took an initiative to do something for fellow human being.

Applying what I learned in future health services

In my future services, I will apply the knowledge learned in enhancing my delivery of services guided by the competencies. I learnt the virtues of humility and patience when dealing with human beings. I also learned to exercise care and compassion. I will employ these virtues in bettering my services in future.
