1) What is the product (give description of the attributes)? For this paper, the product that has been selected is a self-cleaning microwave. The product gap identified is that most of the microwaves available in today’s market only heat food but do not clean themselves. The proposed product is a microwave oven that has an in built cleaning mechanism. The microwave’s attributes will consist of a timed and inbuilt steam-water system that it will use to clean itself after it has been used. The functioning of the product is as follows. The water contained inside the microwave will be heated to high temperatures in order to convert it to steam. The steam will flow through pipes into the microwave and will clean all the grime inside it. The oven door will then open automatically in order to let it dry for the next use.
2) Why anyone would want to buy it (i.e., what is the major benefit sought by a specific group of people in your target segment? The product I choose is a self-cleaning microwave.
People would want to buy the product since it has an automatic inbuilt cleaning system. Microwaves are used to heat and cook food that contains a lot of grime and grease. This usually creates a layer of dirt inside the microwave oven and may be dangerous if not cleaned thoroughly. The cleaning system employed for the oven will also be chemical less. This implies that the oven will not require any detergent or chemicals during the cleaning process. The major benefit sought by the group of people within the product’s market segment is cleanliness. The product will ensure that microwaves used at home are clean and do not harbor any germs and bacteria. This ensures that food is heated and cooked within a sterile environment. Furthermore, it will eliminate the tedious task of cleaning a microwave as well as reducing the amount of time required for cleaning a microwave.
