Example Of People Who Exercise Regularly And Eat A Healthy Diet Should Receive A Tax Benefit. Essay
The late 20th Century MacDonaldization of the American society has made the American obese. The propensity to eat junk food has negatively affected the majority of Americans both physically and psychologically. The consumption of the unhealthy junk food, on the one hand, is the leading cause of cardiovascular related complications. While on the other hand, the tendency to consume unhealthy junk food coupled with the lack of adequate exercise has been instrumental in spawning the billion dollars weight-loss “miracle” industry. Besides the more apparent physical manifestations as the heart diseases the unhealthy dietary habits also cause serious psychological illnesses. It is time that in order to have a healthy America tax benefits should be given to the American women and the American men who eat healthy foods and in addition take up exercise on a regular basis.
Apart from the physical stress and ailments the most obvious psychological problems resulting from unhealthy dietary regimes are the loss of self confidence and the loss of self-esteem. The psychological problems of the loss of self confidence and that of self esteem are more prominent among the American populace. The American women are especially prone to suffer from the psychological problems of the loss of self confidence and the mental issue of low self esteem. The American women, like the rest of the women all around the globe, are continuously fed with images of the women fashion figures, the actresses and the models walking down the ramp in scanty, body-hugging dresses through the traditional print media like the newspaper and magazine articles or advertisements. The electronic media like the television, the movies and even the Internet are also responsible in reinforcing the unrealistic image of women with immaculately toned bodies. The majority of the women do not realize that the images of the models are in most cases electronically and graphically enhanced to transform ordinary looking women into goddesses of beauty by the media. The majority of the women except perhaps he feminists do not realize that the images in the media are mere advertisement ploys to sell a particular product or a service by exploiting the female figure. All such advertisement gimmicks are chiefly meant for the consumption of the male audience in the traditional patriarchal western society. In the traditional patriarchal western civilization the women are expected to certain standards in order to qualify as beautiful and hence desirable. The women on their part fall into this trap consciously but in the majority of cases unconsciously. The vast majority of the American women in the effort to the look like the women models emulate the women role models by adopting dietary habits that are unhealthy and ultimately result in many physical ailments and psychological problems. The problem of anorexia is one such acute manifestation. Without giving much thought the ordinary women try to achieve unrealistic goals to look like the women they follow as role models appearing on the television and the movies. Some of the women even take the extreme steps of opting for cosmetic surgery, in addition, to the spurious medicine widely available in the market to achieve the unrealistic objective of looking like the female figures they see in the movies or the advertisements in the newspapers, magazines, television or the Internet. The American men also suffer from the same dilemma albeit to a somewhat lesser degree than the American women. As a consequence a multi-million dollars industry manufacturing “miracle” weight-loss drugs catering to these unrealistic dreams of both the women and the men has mushroomed in the United States.
The government should give tax benefits to the American people for a number of important reasons. The first and the foremost reason is that a healthy diet ensures a healthy nation. The same logic suffices as far as regular exercise is concerned. The eating of healthy foods and the exercise on a regular basis can very well help cope with the problems of daily life, like anxiety, stress and depression. A much better way to improve the over-fitness, both the American women and the men, lies in the simple fact that the Americans should drastically cut down the consumption of the junk food. In addition, both the American women and the men should take up exercise, ranging from simple walking and running to specialized gym training in the presence of experts to bring a healthy change in their lives. The American government can also play an instrumental role in improving the health of the American citizens by to introducing tax benefits for the American citizens who kick-off the unhealthy habit of eating the junk food and instead start eating healthy food. The tax benefits should also accrue to the American citizens who willing take up regular exercise to improve their overall fitness and health levels. The tax benefits by the American government will prove beneficial in more than one way. For one the American women and the American men routinely eating the unhealthy junk foods will certainly opt for the more healthy foods that in the short and the long term will drastically cut the health care expenses both for the individual American and for the government at large. Besides the above-mentioned factor, eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly will also help eliminate the acute psychological problems like the loss of the self confidence and the low self esteem suffered by the obese American women and the men. Overall as the individual Americans become more health conscious in a matter of years America would become a healthy nation and the role model for the rest of the world. The mandatory tax benefits for having a healthy diet will in the long-run will surely expand the organic agriculture sector in the United States. The introduction of the mandatory tax benefits, both for eating a healthy diet and for exercising regularly is a win-win situation both for the government and the America citizens.AS far as the individual are concerned not only will their physical health and with that their appearance would improve but would have important financial repercussions, as well. The people who eat healthy foods and exercise regularly are valuable assets that the American nation can be rightfully proud-off. Specifically in the case of the American women, consuming a healthy diet and exercising regularly is very important because healthy mothers consequently give birth to healthy children. If America is to maintain its position as the undisputed power in the world it is a must that people who cultivate healthy eating habits plus take care of their physical and psychological health must be awarded by receiving tax benefits from the American government both at the city, the state, and the federal levels. In conclusion, as the centuries old maxim goes “a healthy body is a healthy mind” so it is necessary that the American government gives tax benefits to the American citizens who eat healthy and exercise regularly.
