Most of us have one person in our lives that we admire, look up to, and respect above all others. In my case my role model is my father. Although he had a tough life – being raised in an orphanage – he not only overcame that start, but became a highly successful man, rising to the rank of admiral in the navy. He is most definitely the one responsible for instilling in me my core values. I want to show him my love and respect by letting him see that his daughter is successful in her studies and in her career. I want him to be proud of me always. That is one of the reasons I am applying to a top university for my Master of Science studies. I am confident that by studying at a university that has such a high reputation and is in such demand by many prospective students, I will be sure of obtaining the best quality of education.
I was educated in my home country of Saudi Arabia, graduating in 2013 with a BA in Finance at the University of Business and Technology (UBT) in Jeddah, with a GPA of 4.68/5. During the time of my undergraduate studies (2010 to 2013), I studied English at the Oxford Language Center in Jeddah. I subsequently sat the IELTS test and achieved an overall ranking of 6.5.
Also during my time at the University of Business and Technology, I attended a Business and Management Forum in Jeddah in 2012, and volunteered at the associated workshop. (I have previous volunteering experience in 2007 in a medical hospital in Jeddah). In 2012 to 2013 I spent three months in Co-op training at the Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, which gave me some valuable practical experience in a working environment in Finance.
Then, following graduation, I gained even more “hands-on” experience working for six months (June to December 2013) as a Tax Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers branch in Jeddah. Working for one of the most prestigious businesses in the world of finance was very interesting and helped shape my ambitions for my future career. At the end of that six months I took study leave so that I can complete my studies in the interest of building a successful career in finance.
In addition to my education and work experiences in the world of finance, I also possess a high level of computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, etc) and have strong communication skills. I am outgoing and gregarious and work well either as a team member or leading a project. I believe that these attributes and qualities fit well with my overall objective of a career that will give me the opportunity to use my knowledge in finance as well as my business skills.
I have a really strong work ethic and graduated with honors from the (private) university (UBT) in Saudi Arabia. I believe that those academic results ideally qualify me for graduate studies. Note that because my Bachelor’s studies were in English (not Arabic), studying in English in a US university will not present any particular difficulties for me.
Furthermore, my previous academic and practical experiences have enhanced my research acumen and professional skills, equipping me with the knowledge and insights I need to succeed in this program. I know that I can readily adjust to the life and culture in the United States.
My longer-term objective and my dream is ultimately to be a well-known business woman, both in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. My plans include owning and managing my own business in financial services and financial consulting. By succeeding in my graduate studies, I will not only be ideally equipped to begin a career in finance in my home country, but I will also be seen as a role model for other women in a country where the traditional business world is largely male-dominated.

I know how very rewarding procedures such as bridges and crowns can be in improving aesthetics for patients of all age groups, and how equipping the elderly with dentures can help them live a life with greater personal dignity. I believe I am ideally qualified for this program. My extensive experience in dentistry both in Canada and abroad gives me an unrivalled breadth of awareness of the field that will become my lifelong career. I am eager to begin my graduate studies in Prosthodontics at Toronto University, a world-renowned dental school. I believe that I am ideally positioned to bring new perspectives to class discussions and to add value to the collaborative learning experience at this great institution, which has a long tradition in dentistry. Following my graduate studies I intend to continue to explore the latest techniques and treatments.
