The argument as to whether science makes the case for God is well-researched and debated. Such debates often result in two sides; those who argue for the case and those who are against the case. With the continuous progress of science, many people have argued that explaining the universe and whatever happens in it does not need God. Ancient phenomena which could not be explained by the time have since been explained by science, contrary to the initial expectations and interpretations.
As a matter of fact, the knowledge about the universe has consistently increased with the improvement in science. Several factors and phenomena are being discovered on a daily basis. Gravity is one such phenomenon that changed the perception of the people once it was discovered. Initially, people were of the opinion that it was through the will and act of God that such events happened. Moreover, the electromagnetism force highlights the extent to which human beings have made major strides in discovering and exploring the universe. Compared to several centuries back, one can argue that the current generation has made big steps towards making a case against the existence of God. This is furthered by the discovery and use of nuclear forces, both strong and weak. Whereas such information was not available few centuries ago, the increase in scientific knowledge has ensured that human beings have a better understanding of the world.
In his article in the Wall Street Journal, Eric Metaxas gives a better explanation about this argument. In the article, Metaxas seeks to explain the existence of God through science, contrary to the expectations of many with the belief that science supports the notion that God does not exist. Through studying the planets and stars, Metaxas was able to analyze what it takes to support life in the planet. As such, t would be wise to argue that science has played a major role in making a case for the existence of God.
