The Southern Eastern part of the United States of America is home to many Hispanic Americans due to its geographical position. People in this subpopulation are said to be at high risk of dying early from various avoidable diseases and healthy conditions. According to various research studies reports, Hispanics, especially the women, are leading unhealthy lifestyles because their economic status (Siegel, Ward, Brawley & Jemal, 2011). They are not financially capable of acquiring sufficient health care services; therefore, they are predisposed or exposed to numerous health conditions.
As per various studies, those people living in eight Southern States account for over 30% of all preventable deaths in the United States. Most of these deaths are caused by cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, heart conditions, unintentional injuries, or stroke (Siegel, Ward, Brawley & Jemal, 2011). Therefore, if the concerned authorities can provide various needs for this population, such deaths are preventable. Subsequently, effective strategies are required to address the current health concerns in this community
Some of the major concerns include the need for regular checkups, free and affordable health services, free education on drug abuse, establishment of environment conservation campaigns, and affordable health insurance cover (Clemans-Cope, Kennedy, Buettgens, Carrol & Blavin, 2012). Regular checkups will help in detecting various chronic diseases, such as cancer and stroke, at their early and curable stages, thereby ensuring early treatment. On the other hand, provision of free treatment will enable most people to attain sufficient health services thus preventing unnecessary deaths. Ideally, most of these diseases are lifestyle related conditions that can be managed through a change in lifestyle (Clemans-Cope, Kennedy, Buettgens, Carrol & Blavin, 2012). Therefore, educating the communities on drug abuse will reduce the number of violations thus preventing such diseases. Environmental conservation and insurance cover will also help in preventing these life threatening dieses.
Both the federal and state governments within the country have established various policies meant to enhance health care for the Hispanic. One of the recent policies is The Affordable Care Act and Latinos (U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 2015). The Act is meant to ensure affordable insurance covers, including health care covers, for the Hispanic or the Latinos within the United States.
