Isaiah was a prophet believed to have ministered and written the book of Isaiah in 700 B.C. This paper is based on the life and teachings of Isaiah; I shall personalize his story from a reflection of his life. Isaiah was the son of amok and was in the lineage of the royal family. Isaiah had two sons; shearjashub and Maher-shahal-jash-baz. His ministries were during the reigns of kings Ahaz, Hezekiah, Uzziah and Jotham kings of Judah (Geoghegan, Jeffrey and Michael, Homan 1200-1206).
As I write this book, I relay this message to the present world that we are living in today because we believe that there is only one God who lived in the past, he lives in the present and he shall live in the future. My message to the people is that the lord has spoken about being merciful to his people who continue to sin and become rebellious. That just like an ox knows it master so should the people of Israel know their God. Even amid all the wrath that the lord has brought upon us and the fall of the kingdom of Israel and being invaded by Assyria, people continue to sin. What the Lord wants from his people is for them to be willing and obedient and he shall bless them on earth, he also says that the sacrifices people make to him are meaningless, and he is not interested in them. The biggest hindrance of people’s prayers to God is a sin. He wants our leaders to right and seek justice for everybody. He wants us to repent our sins and because righteous and no matter the magnitude of our sins God is willing to pardon us (NIV New Spirit-Filled Life Bible, 1174, 1176)
I also warn you about worshiping idols and turn to the true God because a day will come when these idols will be meaningless, you will throw them away to the bats and moles and you will flee from the fearful presence the lord because he will rise and shake the earth. Do not put your trust in human beings because they are mortal (Geoghegan, Jeffrey and Michael, Homan 1200-1206).
My call as prophet came in a time when king Uzziah had made a legacy as one of the most effective kings of Israel, and he had developed great prosperity of the nation, resources were well utilized and good commercial relationships with neighboring countries were established. This wealth was however not well distributed, and the rich oppressed the poor. The people had much confidence in Uzziah’s leadership, but he had leprosy, and he was left Jerusalem to live in distant country while his throne was inherited by his son Jotham (Biliarsky, Ivan, 432)
God says that the nation of Israel and its people are like a vineyard and vines that a farmer has well planted on land that is well prepared and taken care of but when harvesting comes they all yield bad fruits and what is he supposed to do? He will destroy it and make it waste land and so does the lord intends for Israel for their sins (The Book of Isaiah: Authorized King James Version, 1026).
I saw the Lord high and exalted seated on a throne and with seraphim above him all worshiping him and the sound of their voices shook the thresholds and the doorsteps, and the temple was filled with smoke and I was in great fear because I was a sinner, and the lord had appeared to me. his message to the people was that they become ever hearing but shall not understand, they become ever seeing but shall not perceive so that they may not understand whatever is going on when the lord brings his wrath upon them, until the day when all the cities and fields will be in ruins and houses left deserted.
My work was not only to rebuke the people and have them do right but also to have them put their faith in God, give them courage and inspiration at time when they had been seized and taken into slavery by the Assyrian empire. I encouraged the people that the captivity was a preparation for a victorious and reformed Hebrew society. The Assyrians invade Judah and captured many cities and wanted king Hezekiah to surrender Jerusalem and god sent me again to the king to tell him not to heed their demand because the sovereign God says “it will not take place, it will not happen”( The Book of Isaiah: Authorized King James Version,1024)
The lord revealed to me the great hope for the people of Israel when he spoke to king Ahaz and told him to ask him for a sign of the hope for the restoration of Israel. The sign the lord gave him was a virgin will conceive a son and will call him Emmanuel (Young, Edward, 182) He will be the messiah and the savior who will bring new life to the future generation through his death. This messiah will be the ideal king who will have all the good qualities that are lacking in other kings. He will sympathize with the poor and oppressed, he will protect them and ensure that everyone is treated with just (Niv Study Bible Rapids, 1478).
